Retirement in the UK

The proportion of people over 65 is getting larger as the years pass because of the UK's ageing population.

While many people welcome retirement, it comes with a lot of changes, so it's important to plan ahead.

Planning for retirement

Even if your retirement is a while away, it's never too late to start planning. When planning for retirement, there are a few things to consider:

  • how you'll live using your state and/or private pension
  • any other savings you have to fund your retirement
  • any debt you could be carrying into your retirement
  • any lifestyle changes you may want to make (e.g. moving house)
  • any benefits that retirement may grant you (e.g. council tax support or free public transport)

Retirement and insurance

Insurance prices can fluctuate as we get older and have more life experience. For example, car insurance prices could be cheaper if you've been driving for a long time or are driving less.

When getting a quote, it's important to let us know if you're retired as it may affect the cost of your insurance.
