I'm an experienced journalist, digital editor and copywriter, now specialising in motoring. I’m editor of Automotive Blog and have worked across the media in newspapers, magazines, TV, teletext, radio and online for household names including the BBC, GMTV, ITV and MSN. I’ve produced digital content in the financial sector for Lloyds Bank, Nationwide and the Money Advice Service. I'm married with two children and live near Bath in Somerset.
I’m the founder of The Travel Hack, one of the UK’s leading travel blogs focusing on travel tips and hacks to make your travels as easy and affordable as possible. I began blogging in 2009 during a two year backpacking trip through Asia and Australia when I lived and travelled in an old VW campervan. I studied journalism when I returned home, but quickly realised traditional media wasn’t for me. I now live in Wales and have two little boys, so I also blog about family travel and my weekend adventures around Wales.
Life as an award-winning travel and drinks writer has led to me to drinking vodka with breakfast in Siberia, cognac in Cognac, sherry in Jerez, port in Oporto, champagne in Champagne, rum in Jamaica, jenever in Amsterdam, gin in Iceland, beer at the Great American Beer Festival, bourbon in Kentucky, whisky in Scotland, and visiting vineyards and distilleries all over the world. Dividing my time between Cambridgeshire and Arizona, I’ve written for BBC Good Food, Waitrose Drinks and American drinks magazine Chilled, where I’m an Editorial Staff Writer.
With more than 20 years’ experience in journalism and PR, I've worked with the BBC, ITV, Trinity Mirror, Metro, MSN and many more leading media, as well as a range of third sector and corporate clients including Macmillan Cancer Support, Visit the Vale and the NHS. A number of my short stories have been published in anthologies and I've written three collections of walking trails in south Wales. Always happiest in the great outdoors, I'm an Ordnance Survey Get Outside Champion and blog about my hiking and camping adventures at www.girlonthetrail.co.uk. I have two teens and a rescue greyhound called Lionel, who, to my shame, is possibly the world’s worst hiking dog (the teens aren’t much better).
I started my career selling vans in the mid-eighties, progressing through dealer groups to management level. In 2010 I joined vehicle valuation company CAP and was responsible for forecasting future used values for all makes and models of vans and trucks. In 2016 I started up my own consultancy business dedicated to the LCV industry. My freelance written work has been used by a number of clients and I’m a regular contributor to WhatVan? magazine. I’m also a judge for their annual ‘Van of the Year’ awards. To relax, I enjoy travel, walking near my Yorkshire home and spend much of my time being bullied by my pet cat, Leo.
I’ve worked in media and marketing for over 12 years, gaining experience in several digital-focused roles as well as print media. I’ve worked at Admiral for the past six years, both as Social Media Manager and now Content Manager. Before joining Admiral, I worked as a Senior Reporter at Media Wales covering environmental issues, local government and general news. I then spent three years as a Communications Manager at the UK’s Emergency Planning Society. In my spare time I love to travel and enjoy being outdoors, whether it’s hiking or finding new places to explore on my paddleboard.
Born and raised in Suffolk, I moved to south Wales in 2004 and joined Admiral in July 2018 as Content Editor. Before this I worked in various content writing roles where I’ve written about topics including food, health, travel and pets. Outside work I love eating out, painting, being outside and trying different craft beers.
I moved to Cardiff to study Media and Communication at University 20 years ago and never left. I joined Admiral in 2018 after managing a number of award winning media campaigns and writing about property, personal finance, interior design, energy, utilities, leisure, travel and pets for more than 15 years. In my spare time you’ll usually find me planning home improvements, arranging family outings or walking the dog.
I have 23 years’ experience working at Admiral. I started in the Claims department in 1996, fresh from Cardiff University where I studied English Language. In 1999 I moved to the Communications team, where I worked for 14 years, responsible for all internal and external communication for Admiral Group. I currently look after Admiral consumer PR including proactive campaigns and dealing with inbound media queries. Having been here so long, there is very little I don’t know about Admiral or our insurance products. When not in work I enjoy trying new restaurants and travelling to new destinations.
