Do I need temporary car insurance?

You legally need to have insurance to drive a car, whether it's your own or someone else's for a few days.

If you're not covered and have an accident, you could be fined and get points on your licence.

What does Veygo's cover include?

Veygo's temporary car insurance gives you cover and convenience in one. It includes:

  • cover if you're 17 years old or older and have a full UK driving license
  • a choice to cover you for an hour to several months running, depending on what type you choose
  • fully comprehensive cover only
  • £750 excess, which you can lower to £250 depending on your details

You can also get your temporary insurance up to 30 days before you want the cover to start.

Can I use temporary car insurance to drive in Europe?

Veygo's temporary car insurance doesn't give you full comprehensive cover in Europe. But Admiral Temporary Car Insurance covers trips to Europe. Check to make sure your policy covers the country you want to drive in.

Should I get temporary car insurance when learning to drive?

Yes - you should get car insurance if you're learning to drive in your own car or someone else's who isn't an instructor.

Veygo offers insurance for learner drivers. It covers you up until you pass your test.

Will temporary car insurance affect my no claims bonus?

No, temporary car insurance won't affect your no claims bonus.

Can temporary car insurance cover me to drive someone else’s car? 

Yes, you can drive someone else's car with temporary car insurance.

If you want to add temporary insurance to your Admiral policy, you'll need to add a temporary car to it too.

If someone else wants to drive your car, you can add them as a temporary named driver on your policy.
