Courier Van Insurance

If you drive for a living and make regular deliveries, this is the cover you need

What is courier insurance?

As a courier, your job is to be on the road making deliveries for a large part of the day. To make sure you’re protected, you need courier insurance, a kind of commercial van insurance that covers you and your van when you’re making deliveries.

Couriers face different challenges to the average driver:

  • Spending more time on the road
  • High mileage
  • Stopping frequently
  • Pressure to make deliveries to a schedule

If you deliver goods or parcels on behalf of someone else, courier insurance – otherwise known as hire and reward insurance – is important to make sure you’re covered when it matters.

Levels of Courier Van Insurance cover

With Admiral Van Insurance, there are four categories of cover to choose from:

  • Social
  • Social and Commuting
  • Own Goods
  • Carriage of goods for hire and reward

As a courier, you’ll need to choose option four, Carriage of goods for hire and reward. As this covers anyone using their van to deliver third party goods, it’s ideal for furniture removers and couriers.

You’ll then need to decide what level of cover you want:

  • Comprehensive
  • Third Party, Fire & Theft
  • Third Party Only

Comprehensive

Comprehensive is the highest level of cover we offer. It includes Third Party, Fire & Theft and will pay out if your van needs repairs or a replacement after an accident or malicious damage.

Third Party, Fire & Theft or Third Party Only are other options that might suit if you feel like you don’t need comprehensive cover.

Third Party, Fire & Theft

You may feel that Third Party, Fire & Theft is enough cover – your van will be covered for damage caused by fire or theft, but you won’t be able to claim for damaged caused any other way, such as in an accident. If you do have an accident, though, we’ll pay out to the other driver.

Third Party Only

Third Party Only is the minimum level of cover required by law and protects you if you damage someone’s property or injure someone while you’re driving your van. It also covers any passengers if they’re injured while in your van, but you won’t be able to claim if your van is stolen or damaged in a fire.
