Van Contents Insurance

Your van's content is valuable, make sure it's properly covered

Previously known as Goods and Tools cover

Up to £6,000 cover for the contents of your van

Would you need cover if vehicle contents were stolen, damaged in an accident or fire, or if your vehicle is stolen with them inside?

Get extra peace of mind the valuable contents in your van are properly protected with our Vehicle Contents Cover policy upgrade.

Why do I need Vehicle Contents Cover?

A standard van insurance policy typically covers the vehicle itself, so you might want to consider adding van contents insurance to protect the things inside your van.

Our Vehicle Contents Cover is ideal for both tradespeople who might have expensive tools in their van and people who use their van for leisure pursuits or carry high value personal belongings inside.

We have four levels of cover to suit your needs:

  1. £1,000
  2. £2,000
  3. £4,000
  4. £6,000

If you need to make a claim to help recover costs if your vehicle contents are stolen or damaged in a collision or fire, the level of cover you choose will be the maximum paid out (£100 excess applies).

How Vehicle Contents Cover works

With our Vehicle Contents Cover upgrade, your van’s contents are covered anywhere in the UK 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Your van must be locked at all times, and if it has an open cargo area any items stored here must be in a locked toolbox or chest that’s fixed down. Similarly, leisure items such as bicycles and surfboards must be securely fixed to appropriate roof rack mountings.

Certain items are excluded from Vehicle Contents Cover, including:

  • Mobile phones
  • Money, including credit or debit cards
  • Tickets

See the policy document below for the full list of exclusions.

Make sure you keep any proof of purchase or invoices as you’ll need them if you make a claim. The excess per claim is £100 and personal belongings and tools will be valued at today’s market value, with a 10% deduction per year (up to a maximum of 50%) to account for depreciation.
