5 Star Car Insurance from Admiral
5 Star rated comprehensive Car Insurance
Admiral, Gold, and Platinum comprehensive cover has been awarded a five-star rating by Defaqto
Car insurance falls into three main levels of cover
This is the highest level of insurance you can buy. It includes third party, fire & theft and covers the cost of repairing or replacing your car if it's involved in an accident or damaged maliciously, as well as offering you a courtesy car. Excluding Essential tier, it also comes with extra benefits including windscreen cover and extended cover for driving outside the UK.
As well as paying out to a third party if you're involved in an incident, this level of cover protects your car from damage caused by fire or theft. However, it doesn't cover the cost if your car's damaged in another way, such as a crash.
This is the most basic level of cover required by law. If you're involved in an accident, we'll pay out the other driver involved but you won't be able to claim for damage to your car.
While the amount of cover you get depends on which level you choose – comprehensive offers the most cover, third party the least – there are a few things that come as standard with Admiral Car Insurance (excluding Essential tier):

Every car in the UK is placed in an insurance group ranging from 1 to 50, with 1 being the lowest and 50 the highest. Cars in the lower groups are cheaper to insure while those close to the 50 mark will be more expensive.
Car insurance groups are broadly set by The Group Rating Panel and administered by Thatcham Research; our pricing team considers these recommendations when calculating our car insurance prices.
As well as looking at the cost of time and parts to return a car to its pre-accident condition, Thatcham’s team looks at these things to help group cars:
Repair costs and times | Motor vehicle repair costs account for over half of all the money paid out in motor insurance claims. Longer repair times mean higher costs, and the greater likelihood of a higher group rating | |
---|---|---|
New car values | The price of new cars including different trim levels is considered in terms replacement and repair costs | |
Parts prices | A standard list of 23 parts most often damaged in an accident and their costs. Lower costs mean more chance of a lower group | |
Performance | 0-60mph and top speed are important. Claims stats show high performance cars often result in more frequent insurance claims so will usually be ranked higher | |
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) | By helping to reduce low-speed front to rear accidents, cars fitted with AEB as standard may have a lower insurance rating | |
Car security | Standard fitted security such high-security door locks, alarms and alloy wheel locking devices can help put cars into lower groups |
