I’m the easy-to-use bluetooth device that sticks to your windscreen, pairs with your smartphone, and records car journeys. 


I measure phone use, braking, speed, and acceleration, to score your driving.

How to use your LittleBox Pod

You’ll get it in the post a few days after your policy starts

How it works

LittleBox Pod uses your phone’s GPS satellite technology to assess your driving by collecting information about you to give you a driving score.

Your score is averaged out over time, so don’t worry too much. You don’t need to be a perfect driver to get a good score.

Phone use

Using your phone while driving is dangerous and impacts your score. If you use your phone for directions, put it in a cradle and set up your route before setting off. Don't let passengers use your phone either, as this affects your score.

Speed

The app detects if you’re driving over the speed limit, so keep an eye out for speed limit signs.

Braking

Avoid hard or fast stops by allowing yourself enough time to brake. Keep to the speed limit and maintain a safe distance between you and the car in front.

Acceleration

Don’t accelerate too quickly when speeding up, instead go slowly and gradually to show you're in control of your car.

Night Driving

There's no curfew, however your score is affected by driving at night when you and other road users are more likely to be tired and it's dark.

My device hasn’t arrived

We’ll send you a text message when your LittleBox Pod is dispatched, via Royal Mail 48 hour signed for delivery. If your LittleBox Pod hasn’t arrived please contact us straight away.

How do I set up my LittleBox Pod?

When it arrives, and you’re in your vehicle, follow the instructions provided in the Admiral app to pair the app to your LittleBox Pod.

Then, stick the device to your windscreen, making sure it doesn't obstruct your view.

You can carry on driving normally while you wait for your LittleBox Pod to be delivered.

How to change my Battery Optimisation Settings in Android

The issue is sometimes caused by your power-saving mode or your sleeping apps settings. Follow the steps below to set your phone up correctly.

How to check your power-saving mode

Depending on the type of your Samsung phone, you'll need to follow one of the two sets of instructions below.

 

1. Go to your phone's settings and select Apps or Applications

2. Select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the screen

3. Select Special access

4. Select Optimise battery usage

5. Select All apps in the dropdown and search for 'Admiral'

6. Disable that option if it isn't already by toggling the switch

 

Or you can try:

1. Go to Device maintenance and select Battery

2. Select Battery usage

3. Select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the screen

4. Select Optimise battery usage

5. Select All apps in the dropdown and search for 'Admiral'

6. Disable that option if it isn't already, by toggling the switch

 

How to check your sleeping apps settings

1. Go to your phone's settings

2. Select Device Care

3. Select Battery

4. Select App power management and make sure the Admiral app isn't in the Sleeping apps list

5. If it is, select the bin icon in the top-right corner of the screen and then click on Remove

 

 

Turning on background activity

For some Android phones, the battery setting you will have to turn on is ‘background activity.

 

Please see below for two ways to do this in your phone.

  • Press and hold on the Admiral app icon on your home screen
  • Select app info or the ‘I’ icon
  • Select battery usage from the list
  • Toggle 'Allow background activity' on

Alternatively, you can;

  • Go to your phone settings
  • Select ‘apps’ from the list
  • Select ‘App management’
  • Find and select the Admiral app from the list
  • Select battery usage
  • Toggle ‘Allow background activity' on

Do I need to keep the Admiral app on my phone now I’ve got a LittleBox Pod?

Yes. Not only is this in our T&Cs, but the LittleBox Pod won’t work without the Admiral app.

Do I need to turn on the Admiral app for LittleBox Pod to work?

No. If your smartphone’s Bluetooth and location services are on, and you've given the necessary permissions, the app will automatically record your journeys.

How much data and battery will the app use?

We’ve made our app with your battery and data in mind, so you shouldn't see much impact.

If you're worried about your data, you can change the settings so that LittleBox Pod only uploads your trips when you’re connected to Wi-Fi.

Do you share my data with the police?

Only if we’re requested by officials to provide evidence for a criminal case.

If my score is bad, will you increase my price?

We won’t, but consistently poor scoring will impact your next renewal price and we may cancel your policy if you consistently have a very poor score. We’ll contact you if this is likely to happen.

What happens if I'm a passenger in my own or someone else's vehicle?

The app only records data when it’s connected to the LittleBox Pod. This means if you're a passenger in your vehicle and carrying your smartphone, the journey is recorded which impacts your score.

Journeys in other vehicles aren’t recorded as the app isn’t connected to the LittleBox Pod.

Will my named drivers get a score?

No, we won't score named drivers and they don't need to download the app.

What happens if I change my phone?

You must download the Admiral app and sign in to your account on your new phone. The LittleBox Pod should link automatically.

It’s your responsibility to make sure your phone is compatible with LittleBox Pod and the Admiral App.

What happens if I change my car?

Just remove your LittleBox Pod from your old car and fix it in the same place in your new car.
