With the first day of advent just days away and households up and down the UK prepping to deck the halls, Admiral Home Insurance has compared the cost of real Christmas trees across the country revealing those in London are paying a premium for the festive centrepiece.

The insurer compared the cost of real trees available in Christmas tree farms and independent garden centres across the UK, with the data highlighting those in Belfast are likely to pay the least for a 7ft Nordmann Fir with the average tree costing £53, 50% less than in London (£80).

Outside of London, those in Newcastle are likely to pay the most for their tree, with a 6ft Nordmann Fir costing on £58 on average, over a quarter (26%) more than the cost of a comparable tree in Belfast.
