How to get in touch
There’s no question too big or small where your furry friend is concerned.
Call 0333 332 3238 or chat online.
Calls to 03 numbers will cost no more than calls to national geographic numbers (starting 01 or 02) from both mobiles and landlines.
The service is provided by The Vet Connection, trading since 2003, with over 100,000 pet owner interactions every year.
Why do I need pet insurance?
While pet insurance isn’t compulsory, there’s no NHS for animals and the average pet insurance claim in 2020 was £817, according to the Association of British Insurers – a large amount to pay out of your pocket.
The majority of pet insurance payouts were for vet bills – just like humans, medical care for animals is becoming increasingly sophisticated, and therefore, expensive.
The cost of getting quality veterinary treatment can quickly run into thousands of pounds, so having the peace of mind your pet is covered for life-saving treatment can be invaluable.
Which furry friend do you want to insure?
Get a 5% discount with multi pet
If you have more than one cat or dog in your home, multi pet insurance could be the perfect fit. For every pet you add to your multi pet cover, you'll get a 5% discount on each policy, and you'll get that every year you renew with Admiral Pet Insurance!
Minimum premium spend required to be eligible for discount, £93.38 for dogs and £68.33 for cats.
What’s included?
Lifetime Cover
Our most comprehensive cover, Lifetime policies cover your pet/s for accident and illnesses up to the policy limit you’ve chosen each year, at renewal the limit resets.
Maximum Benefit Cover
This policy provides cover for accident and illnesses up to the Vet Fee Limit for each condition, you can claim for as many conditions as you need to, however once you hit the limit for a condition, you won’t be able to claim for this condition again.
12 Month Cover
This policy provides cover for accident and illnesses for a period of 12 months from when symptoms started. When either the veterinary limit or the 12 months has been used up, you won’t be able to claim for this condition again. You can still claim for new conditions.
Good to know
You can claim for accidents just 24 hours after your policy starts and for illnesses showing ‘Clinical Signs’ 14 days after.
Clinical Signs means changes in your pet’s normal healthy state, its bodily functions or behaviour.
Pre-existing medical conditions aren’t covered by Admiral Pet Insurance. All cover is subject to premiums being up to date, policy remaining in force and insurer offering renewal.
Make sure you read the full policy benefits before making your choice.

Your questions answered
What would my pet excess be?
We’ll deduct an excess of £100 from your benefit for each illness or accidental injury treated.
If your pet is over six years old, an additional 20% will be deducted for Veterinary Fees, Complimentary Medicine, Cruciate Ligament Damage, Special Diet and Dentistry (where these are covered) for each claim payment.
This will be deducted from the claims settlement.
An example calculation for the amount you'll pay in the event of a claim for pets over six-years-old is below:
- The amount claimed = £400
- Minus the fixed excess of £100 = £300
- Minus the variable excess of 20% (£60) = £240
- Total excess paid by you (£100 + £60) = £160
- Total paid by us = £240
There is a £250 excess applied once per claim for Third Party Liability cover (dogs only).
What is an excess and co-payment?
Your excess is the amount you pay towards a claim. A co-payment is an additional payment you’ll make towards the cost of any claim, minus your excess.
With Admiral Pet Insurance, any pets over six-years-old will have an additional 20% deducted for Veterinary Fees, Complimentary Medicine, Cruciate Ligament Damage, Special Diet and Dentistry (where these are covered) for each claim payment. This amount will be deducted from the claims settlement.
What is a pre-existing condition?
A pre-existing condition is any illness, injury or complication directly resulting from an injury or illness, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed that is known to you prior to the start of your policy, or within the first 14 days for illness or 24 hours for injury
