If you’re a customer living on the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, there’s been some changes to our car and van policies which we want to explain.
This article covers what the change is, why it’s changing, and what it means for you as a customer.
From the 1st of September, we’re unable to insure any car or van customers living on Guernsey, Jersey, any of the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
Our car and van insurance are underwritten by a company based in Gibraltar.
The Gibraltarian government has brought in new legislation meaning that insurers based there can’t offer motor insurance to anyone on the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. This includes us.
If you already have a car or van policy with us, we can still insure you up until your renewal date – even if that’s after the 1st of September.
Once you get to your renewal date, we can’t renew your policy. You’ll need to insure your vehicle with another provider.
We'll be in contact with you before your renewal date to let you know about the change directly.
You can’t take out a new policy with us if you live on any of the affected islands.
If you call for a quote, our advisors will let you know you can’t insure your vehicle with us.
If you try to get a quote through our website, you won’t be able to continue once you’ve put your address in.
If you have an existing insurance policy with us, you can still make changes to your policy up until your renewal date – except adding another vehicle.
You can still amend and update any details that you need to.
If you’re a customer who doesn’t live on the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man and you’re planning to drive there on holiday, you’ll continue to be covered.
No other insurance apart from car and van are affected by this law change.
If you have pet or travel insurance with us, there’s no changes to your policy.
If you’re unsure of anything to do with this change, please get in contact with us.
