It’s hard to know where to start as you may be looking for a car with features you’ve never had to consider before.

Whether your family has recently grown bigger larger or you’ve suddenly found yourself travelling further for work, choosing a car that suits your lifestyle is important.

To help give you a good starting point on choosing the right type of car to suit your needs simply choose the statement that you feel relates to you most.

“I’m always looking for the next big adventure. I want to drive to hard to reach places and see the world.”

You should look for vehicles suitable for off-roading with enough space to hold all of your equipment. There are a number of fantastic options such as the Ford Ranger, the Toyota Land Cruiser, the well-known Jeep Cherokee or Land Rover Discovery. It’s worth looking through all the different variations of these to find the model that best suits the needs of your upcoming adventures; for example, be sure to check which models work better in cooler temperatures if you plan on going to colder climates etc.

“My family and I live outside town and have to drive our children to school every day. We need plenty of space for everyone to make the journey as easy as possible.”

So, you need a ‘family car’ then. Essentially a spacious vehicle with low running costs, ‘family cars’ are comfortable enough to handle long journeys with luggage just as well as shorter trips. Despite the rise in popularity of SUVs for families, many still prefer hatchbacks. Some of the most favoured in recent years are the Mazda 3, the Volkswagen Golf, the Audi A3 and of course, the beloved Ford Focus.

“I’m a young person and I’ve just passed my driving test so I’m looking for my first car! I’m so excited to finally have that extra level of independence, but I need to keep it as cheap as I possibly can.”

The market for a young persons’ first car is huge. Due to the general financial limitations of young people, it can be easier to look for cars that are cheaper to insure and work from there. Some of the cheaper cars to insure for young people in 2016 included the SEAT Mii, the Fiat 500, the Ford Ka and the Volkswagen Fox. These are all fairly compact cars, but all offer great value for money in terms of insurance, fuel consumption and they look pretty cute too!

“I need to get around more than public transport allows, but I’m very aware of my carbon footprint. I don’t want to affect the environment more than I have to.”

Fuel economy and low emissions are more important than ever when selecting a new car. Electric cars and hybrids have become a lot more common in the last few years and one of the top hybrid cars at the moment is the Toyota Prius. Other cars worth looking into are the Skoda Octavia, BMW 330e, Vauxhall Astra and the Volkswagen Passat.

“I live in the city and need my car to get around easily. Public transport isn’t reliable or convenient enough for me so I need to use my car to get to work each day and run errands.”

City cars are the perfect choice for you. Designed to be reasonably compact, without restricting interior space, they give you the manoeuvrability to nip around the traffic of urban streets. Popular choices include the Hyundai i10, the Citroen C1 and its twin the Peugeot 108, the VW up! and the Skoda Citigo. All of these are great starting points to start looking into what city car is best for you. If you’re a driver under the age of 25 you may find them a bit cheaper to insure.

“I’ve worked hard for years and managed to save enough money to treat myself to something special. I love having extra features in the car that make driving even more comfortable and enjoyable.”

It’s time to treat yourself! Nothing feels better than finally getting something significant to show off all the hard work you’ve done. These cars have a variety of extras which make the driving experience even more satisfying for both the driver and the passengers. Many feature powerful engines, plenty of technology as standard, heated seats, climate control, extra legroom and so much more. Some of the most sought after luxury cars are the Jaguar XJ, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class and the ever-popular Range Rover.
