What is car warranty?
Sometimes called mechanical breakdown insurance, car warranty is an extended warranty to cover your vehicle once the manufacturer's warranty expires. New cars come with a warranty from the dealership or manufacturer as standard, so you may want to extend your cover beyond that with car warranty cover.
Three great options from Admiral Car Warranty
Whichever level of cover you choose, rest assured they all include cover for failure of major parts such as the engine, electrics, gearbox, suspension and turbo units.
With Platinum and Gold, if your vehicle needs to be moved to a garage, we will pay up to £70, excluding tolls and ferry charges, towards the cost of towing your broken down vehicle to an authorised repairer.
Our policies run for 12 months and you have the option of either paying as a one off payment or by monthly direct debits.
Platinum - our highest level of protection
Our Platinum level covers almost all mechanical and electrical components, as well as labour to fit them, in the case of breakdown or failure. This includes:
- ABS Braking system
- Ignition system
- Cooling system
- Gearbox (manual and automatic)
And unlike most car warranties, our Platinum Warranty provides cover for components that have suddenly failed as a result of wear and tear (excluding brakes and clutches, as these parts are designed to wear over time in order to operate).
Gold - our mid-range car warranty
Our mid level Gold tier covers major mechanical and electrical components against failure, but unlike Platinum excludes failure due to wear and tear. You can choose an individual claim limit of up to £3,000 and the total policy claim limit is £60,000.There is no cap on the number of claims you can make in the policy term and additionally you have cover within Europe for up to 180 days.
Silver - our value option car warranty
Our lowest tier and value option car warranty covers the same major mechanical and electrical components against failure as Gold, but only if they have caused a breakdown and you have been recovered to a garage by a recognised recovery agent. You will need to ensure you have adequate breakdown recovery in place for the duration of this warranty and no claims can be made within the first 14 days. There is an individual claim limit of £1,000 and you can make a maximum of 5 claims within the 12 month term (up to £5,000 in total).

Will it cover my car?
Admiral Car Warranty covers a wide range of new and used cars up to 10-years-old as long as there's less than 100,000 miles on the clock. We cover used, new, performance and prestige cars.
Should I buy car warranty cover?
If you have a second hand car it may not come with the peace of mind of a manufacturer’s warranty, so you might consider an optional car warranty to cover any unexpected repair costs. If your car breaks down due to mechanical or electrical failure, car warranty covers the cost of replacing or repairing insured parts, including labour.
Garages can charge hundreds of pounds per hour for labour and when you factor in the cost of new parts on top, you could soon end up with a costly bill.
