We only hold onto your personal data for as long as it's needed to either supply you with your Admiral policy or product, or for legitimate business purposes.
How long we keep hold of your personal data depends on why we're using it. Get in touch if you have any questions about our data retention policy.
To keep things simple, here are short summaries of our different 'retention periods', and how we decide what they'll be:
Data that's kept until you ask us to remove it
It's your right to ask us to delete certain bits of your personal data.
Find out more about your right to delete it, and when we can remove it.
Data that expires after a specific time period
We set time limits so some data is automatically removed after a certain period of time. How long we keep it is different depending on what type of data it is, and what we need it for.
For example, we usually keep policy records for seven years after the end of our relationship with you. But this could be longer if there are any claims that haven't been sorted, or if there's another legitimate reason for us to keep them.
Data that's kept for extended time periods for limited purposes
After your policy or product comes to an end, we keep some data for longer - but only for very limited reasons. For example, there might be legal or contractual reasons we have to hold onto it.
This could include:
- data retention laws
- official requests from the government to hold onto information for an investigation
- keeping data that might be needed for legal proceedings
