We know that your belongings are really important to you. From your furniture and TV to clothes and jewellery, contents insurance helps protect what matters most.
It covers all your treasured possessions against things like theft, vandalism, fire and water damage.
You can also choose extra cover for high-value items or things you want to take outside your home.
We hope you never need to make a claim. But things can go wrong sometimes, and accidents can happen. Here's what our contents insurance covers you for.
If extreme weather damages your belongings, we'll help to repair or replace them.
We know having your things stolen or vandalised is stressful, especially if there's been a break-in.
If that happens, we'll be there to help you get back on track.
Cover if a fire or smoke damages your belongings.
Support if you've got a water leak that's damaged your stuff. For example, if you've got a burst pipe that's ruined your sofa.
Unfortunately, your insurance can't protect everything against loss or damage. Here are a few things your contents cover doesn't include.
We don't cover wear and tear, which is damage that happens slowly over time or from everyday use.
That might be things like worn carpets or your sofa being worn down from use.
You're not covered if any pests, like rats or moths, damage your belongings.
We also don't cover damage from pets chewing, scratching, tearing, vomiting or any toilet mishaps!
If your appliances break down because of an electrical or mechanical fault, we won't cover it.
When we say appliances, we mean things like your fridge, TV or dishwasher.
You might have a warranty from when you bought the appliance though, so it's always worth checking with the manufacturer.
Insuring your home can be confusing. To make it easier, we've broken down what each level covers.

Combined home insurance, often just called home insurance, includes both buildings and contents cover on one policy. If you're a homeowner, this one's for you!
Buildings insurance covers the cost to repair damage to a home's structure. It also protects garages, outbuildings and anything that’s permanently fixed. It might be the right choice for freeholders.
Contents insurance protects the belongings inside your home from theft, vandalism, fire and water damage. It’s usually the right option if you live in a flat or are a leaseholder.
