A rare Ford Capri which has only ever had one owner was stolen on Saturday night leaving the elderly owner devastated.

The 77-year-old retired carpenter bought the Ford Capri 280 Brooklands back in the 80s; it was an end of production special edition in 1986 which boasted 15in RS seven spoke alloy wheels, Brooklands green metallic paint and Raven Connolly leather interior.

Only 1,038 of this special edition were made and just 227 are thought to be left in the UK.

'LWO 1P' has been lovingly owned by the same person, who prefers not to be named, for 30 years. And he always swore he would never sell the car.

But on Saturday night (21 November) the grandfather-of-two's pride and joy was stolen from outside his home in Penybryn, near Gelligaer, in the South Wales valleys.

A friend and fellow Capri enthusiast, Adrian Dalton, said: "Many people in and around the local area know and are fond of the car and its owner. He's had it for so long and has turned down many offers to sell it over the years."

If you have any information about the car please contact South Wales Police on 101 or you can send Adrian Dalton a private message through Facebook.
