Parents' hectic work schedules and the busy lives we live are producing a new generation of kids who aren't getting enough of their parents' time. Our research shows that spending time with children is well down the list for many parents, behind working at home and doing chores, with just under two thirds of parents regularly saying "maybe later" to their children without realising the impact it's having. In fact, 77 per cent of children are fed up of being parked in front of the TV instead of being entertained.

For some quick tips of things to do with your children why not try:

• Picnics in the park
• Bike rides
• Trips to beaches
• Walks around the forest
• Trips to museums
• Keep an eye out in the local press for free events in your area
