The last decade saw the number of households owning more than one car rise by around 17%, but with multiple cars comes multiple insurance policies and renewal dates. One company is tackling this with a policy that provides a simple and effective solution to the problem.
Admiral's MultiCar insurance product, which is only available direct from Admiral and not through price comparison sites, allows between two and five cars in the same household to be insured on the same policy. All the cars covered receive a discount, and the more cars on cover, the larger the discount; in fact policies with four or five cars can receive discounts in excess of 23% while policies with two cars typically receive a 10% discount.
It also means customers deal with one insurance company, so less phoning around, less dates to remember and less to worry about.
Admiral's Managing Director, Sue Longthorn, commented, "Each Admiral MultiCar policy can hold up to five cars from any single household; this could be a couple, parents and their children, or even housemates. In fact it doesn't matter who owns the cars, as long as they are all for private use and all registered at the same address."
Once the policy is in force, all the cars are on cover, and then Admiral will unite the renewal date of the cars on the policy. For example, if two cars are set up on a MultiCar policy on, but one of the cars isn't due to renew on its current policy until 10th June it will join the policy on this date. Both cars will then renew on 8th March the following year.
At the renewal date, assuming no claims have been made, each car owner will have earned one year No Claims Bonus, as long as they've been on cover for three months or more.
Here's an example of what customers can save:
