Drivers are facing the prospect of more disruption on the roads, as another band of bad weather makes its way across the UK.
The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings as it predicts heavy snowfall during Tuesday in south west England, the west Midlands and Wales.
And the adverse conditions are expected to continue through to Wednesday, when snow may fall across a wider area of central and western England, with heavy rain across southern England.
The Highways Agency has warned motorists to expect difficult driving conditions, particularly in the west Midlands where it is predicted that up to 20cm of snow may fall on higher ground.
The return to winter comes just after some areas of the UK had shaken off the last of the ice and slush formed from heavy snowfall in the run up to Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, the AA said that it had attended over 130,000 breakdowns in the UK since snow fell on 18 December - its busiest period in more than a decade, according to the group. Previously it had warned of soaring car insurance claims, as motorists across the country were caught out by treacherous driving conditions.
As snow began to fall in Wales during Tuesday morning, the Highways Agency urged drivers to stay up to date with weather forecasts for their area, consider whether their journey is essential, and to drive appropriately for the conditions. It also recommended that motorists should carry a severe weather emergency kit in their vehicles.
