| There is no doubt about it; open top motoring is fun and cool. With summer finally under way it is more attractive than ever. But some people are put off buying a convertible car because they are worried about the security of a soft top, so why not consider one of the new range of hard top convertibles?
Admiral, has looked at the cost to insure five hard top convertibles, all priced under £15,000. The good news is that they are all economical to insure, with some coming in at less than £200 a year.
Brand managing director of Admiral, Sharon Clarke, said: “A whole range of these hard top convertibles have been launched in the last few years. Cars such as the Peugeot 307 convertible, Nissan Micra Sport C+C convertible and Renault Megane Extreme CC convertible turn from hard top to open top at the flick of a switch. On top of this they are also cheaper to insure than traditional fabric roofed convertibles because they are more secure.”
Admiral looked at five of this new breed of hard top convertibles and compared the cost of insuring them through itself and other leading insurers for five different motorists. All quotes came in between £158 and £473 for a one year policy.

Sharon Clarke continued: “The British are the most enthusiastic open top motorists in Europe, and these lower cost hard-top convertibles look set to become more and more popular in coming years. We wanted to show another benefit of owning one, not only are they more secure and easier to clean than soft tops, they are also reasonably cheap to insure.”
