If you have a family and all the extras they entail, you can't beat an
MPV for space, practicality and safety. But what should the average family
man or family woman be paying to insure their MPV and its precious cargo?
Leading car insurer, Admiral took a look and found them to be very reasonable
to insure.
Admiral compared the cost of insuring five of the most popular MPVs for
various families around the country. They found that even if you are a
city slicker living in central London, the cost of insuring one can be
less than £500, which would be cheaper than your average 4x4 or
executive car. In fact all the vehicles Admiral looked at could be insured
for between £287 and £470.
In recent years MPVs have come on leaps and bounds in style and the creativity
of their design. From the granddaddy of them, the Renault Espace to the
weird and wonderful Fiat Multipla, MPV designers have always kept one
thing in mind; these cars are for families.
Admiral managing director, Jane Stone, said, "MPVs are the ultimate
family vehicle. You can easily fit two or three kids, a couple of adults
and the family dog into them. Our research shows that not only are the
practical, they are amongst the best value cars to insure too."
Admiral compared the cost of one year's comprehensive insurance, with
four different insurers for the following MPVs: VW Sharan TDI 1.9, Fiat
Multipla ELX JTD 1.9, Ford Galaxy Ghia 2.3, Vauxhall Zafira Comfort 16v
2.2, Peugeot 807 GLX 2.0. All policies include £100 voluntary excess
and legal cover. All drivers have 5 years no claims bonus.
