The country's largest survey of the workplace has revealed that South
Wales based car insurer Admiral is the best company to work for in Wales.
Each year The Sunday Times publishes its list of The 100 Best Companies
To Work For and this year the Admiral Group, which employs 1,500 in its
offices in Cardiff and Swansea, was ranked 46th in the list. Making it
the highest ranking Welsh company.
This is the third year that the list has been published and the third
year that Admiral has appeared in the top 50. Admiral scored particularly
highly for being a fun place to work. 90% of staff agreed with this. The
fourth highest of all the companies surveyed. It also scored high for
providing excellent training and for having approachable management.
Admiral CEO, Henry Engelhardt, said, "We're delighted to have made
the list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For again this year. Many companies
ignore the importance of happy staff for good business. We do our best
to listen to our staff. Nearly 500 members of our staff were surveyed
on various aspects of working here, so it gives us a good idea of what
we are doing right and if there are areas we can improve on as employers."
The Sunday Times surveyed over 47,000 employees in over 200 companies
before they compiled the list, which has become a benchmark for best practice.
It was backed by the Department of Trade and Industry and Patricia Hewitt,
Trade and Industry Secretary, presented the awards at a ceremony in London.
